Business Models on the Decentralized Internet Frontier

October 16, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

We are pleased to announce WHIPgroup’s October Meetup: Business Models on the Decentralized Internet Frontier!

Our esteemed speaker this month is Patrick Stanley, Blockstack’s Head of Growth, who will cover emerging business models in the world of decentralized applications (“dapps”).

Blockchain technology continues to grow in importance to business leaders and consumers. One good example is the fast moving trend of dapps where companies leverage blockchain tech to deliver better and more secure services to customers and business partners.

Blockstack is a platform that supports the creation and deployment of highly secure dapps that you access through the “Blockstack Browser.” After 3 years of production, Blockstack has over 74,000 domains registered and over 7,000 members in its developer community.

New dapps are being created every day, and with blockchain, tokenization, and new governance mechanisms, the methods with which dapp projects can monetize are evolving. Patrick will talk through a few of the most popular business models and give real-life examples of organizations he’s working with at Blockstack that are finding new ways (or new takes on old ways) to sustain their businesses. He’ll also explain the rationale behind emerging models, explore the pros and cons of business model options, and take questions from the group.

Prior to joining Blockstack, Patrick was the first employee at data-driven lending startup Earnest, which sold to Navient for $155m in 2017. Patrick speaks regularly at events such as ours, with Blockstack putting on events spanning 23 cities and 12 countries.

Please RSVP promptly as we expect space will be limited. We look forward to this tremendous event!
